Last night I met him, the one I'd met before. The one my Dad gladly says can become his future son-in-law. It was dark and rainy outside. I willingly ran into the restaurant to escape from the rain. He was sitting at a table to my left, I spotted him right away. They lost. The crowd had booed him off the ice. He was still in his gear, minus his mostly blue helmet. I walked over and sat down. "I know how you must be feeling right now" I didn't really. He looked up and then back down at the empty table in front of him. He got up, walked away and went over to a table with the rest of them wearing their white, red and blue. He stopped and waved me over, I followed. I sat down next to him but didn't say anything. I felt invisible. They laughed and joked but he sat silent. He'd let them down, or at least that's how he looked at it. Then I talked- he listened. He laughed and I stared. Then I joined him. It blurred, then we were running. It was a race between the rest, searching for something. Under a blanket of darkness, the rain had stopped. We won, together. I woke up this morning and thought it was Friday... it was only Tuesday.
